KD-AVX44 Kameleon MADDD!!!!! December 24, 2008 Keyon D. R. Grant (Jamaica, West Indies) This product is MADDD, CRAZY, GREAT. It would have gotten an excellent if it had a volume knob but that would defeat the purpose of having a "blank" faceplate. It has alot of features and connections. It also works great with my Blackberry Curve 8320. There's only one issue with the Kameleon, it's loading time for CDs, DVDs, USB drives is too long. Im summary, you will not be disappointed. Oh, the LCD screen also shows brilliantly.
The Car Deck that can December 15, 2008 R. Capleton Had been in the market for over a year upgrading from an Eclipse unit. Must confess it was love at first sight and bought the El Kameleon two days later. While awaiting its delivery I took the time to read blogs, reviews and the experiences of owners, must confess the result caused some apprehension. The proof has been in the "eating". Though not as simple to install as the documentation suggested, the effort was well worth the time and I can say that this unit, bursting with features, has to be the best value for money on the market today. It offers every conceivable function that can be of use in a vehicle, the only challenge thus far is to get it to play my iphone's ipod, but it does charge the battery effortlessly thru the USB connection. Getting familiar with the controls does require a bit of dedication of time to read the manual and practice with the touch screen while stationary as it will not be posssible to learn it whilst moving. Once familiar it's a breeze to operate on the fly. I unhesitantly endorse and recommend this product.
JVC KD-AVX44 El Kameleon Vehicle Multimedia Receiver w/ 3.5" Monitor October 4, 2008 K. A. Nguyen (Garden Grove, CA USA) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This Product is Excellent and has all the features of a much more expensive model for a reasonable price. It's compact and user friendly.
Great features, mediocre interface September 15, 2008 Diane McCorkle (Malden, MA USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
After a month with this unit, I have to say that it really does do everything that it advertises, and that's great! the Bluetooth cell phone integration is fantastic (and the primary reason I bought it) The ipod integration? another key feature, but could be better, it works ok with my 5th gen, but refuses to see my iphone. Menu integration on the ipod is fair at best, but thats the fault of the user interface, the same interface with a cool ipod-like volume swirl motion that unfortunately as others have said does everything but adjust the volume, if you're listening to the radio, and you aren't perfect in the 'volume swirl motion' it'll change your channel. While you use a swirl motion like an ipod click wheel, it *only* works for volume, you can't use it to help navigate the menus when you have an ipod full of music. Imagine trying to reach an artist whose name starts with M when it starts at A or Z, and you have to go up and down one page at a time, and only by holding your finger on the touch screen because the remote? it doesn't let you navigate menus. The interface is the downfall here, if the interface was better, or the remote could replace touching the panel, this would head unit would get solid 5 stars from me, as it is, the hardware gets 5 stars, the software gets 1, and that averages 3. I'd really like to see updated firmware to fix the dreadful interface, or even a new front panel that has a volume control that doesn't make you take your eyes off the road and risk accidents.
Great in-dash unit August 11, 2008 Erick S. Oliveira (Sao Paulo, SP , Brasil) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Great in-dash unit. in the first moment operation is a little bit strange, because front panel is quite complex. But after a while and manual, you get used. Great picture quality, even under sunshine. Good audio adjustments. Just didn't like because only with DVD or CD I can adjust subwoofer and other parameters. iPod interface works fine, but menu access is quite slow. Also, I'm facing some problems such as long videos (after 15minutes) hang up on the ipod interface and reboot the ipod. Using my ipod (80GB classic) stand alone works fine. overral is a very good unit for the price and size. Recommended.
