Sony CDX DAB6650 June 30, 2009 B. Thomas (Middlesbrough UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Ordered and recieved within 3 working days and could not be happier with this top quality item.
Fitting was easy although a trip to my local Halfords was needed to get some adaptors to upgrade the wiring on my Landrover.
The assistant in Halford tried to warn me off a DAB model as he stated that DAB just does not work in cars - well how wrong he was.
I get great quality radio and many channels only available on DAB with super sound and coverage.
Instruction manual for fitting is very good but users manual could be simplified, although if used for reference along side the unit it is fine.
Once fitted, go into the settings section and tweak the settings because some of the features I feel should be set as defaults do need to be set by the user inc DAB ariel settings.
All in all I would highly recommend this unit!!!

I have owned this cd radio for one year having purchased it from Halfords and with them fitting it.I bought it specifically for listening to DAB radio and I am not disappointed although reception varies according to location. The CD works fine, no problems. Excellent service from Halfords.
I lost the sound from the RH speaker soon after purchase but quickly fixed, a loose wire. Quality wise no problems but it can be fiddly to adjust the settings.
It is convenient to be able to remove the front panel when leaving the car unattended.
Overall I would recommend this unit although, as with most modern electronic items it is a little overcomplicated for me.
Sony DAB in-Car radio CD with aux input March 9, 2009 R W Nixon (Manchester, UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Easy to fit swapping it over in a FIAT Ducato van based motorcaravan. One wire to swap for permanent live feed so radio can be on without the ignition.
Reception (Rx sensitivity) so far seems mixed - very good when parked up but less sensitive when driving in fringe reception areas on FM and DAB. DAB switches to FM when necessary.

I have just fitted this radio, the installation was easy ,both the wiring and internal antenna. The dab reception is fantastic and even worked for a while in a multi storey car park , on leaving the car park it regained the signal as quick as FM .Sound and volume are good. Mp3 player works fine and scrolls titles as well.I don`t have any issues with the buttons , you just have to get used to them as with any new gadget.
I connected my tom tom with the auxiliary cable(supplied)and it too works.overall ,Im well happy
DAB is FAB and Sony Rocks!! March 9, 2008 Ms. L. Newall (Scotland) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Well now....cracking piece of kit! I have to say first of all, this is £90 cheaper than Halfords! Get it for that reason alone if you want a tidy bit of DAB in your motor.
Having changed stereos in the car before i thought this may be a bit too much for me having read some of the reviews beforehand about the dash work involved in installing it. Pleasantly surprised however to find that there wasnt....took me longer getting the old radios cradle out than putting this one in. Managed to find a path for the DAB aerial to go down between the door hinge and the join of the dashboard and under the glove box at the back.....little bit of sticky tape does wonders if you dont want to rip your car apart.
Once installed (looks very good by the way) the sound quality is excellent. My twin door speakers helps i'm sure, but theres no interference that i can hear anyway. When i tuned to my local station i was again chuffed....the DAB kicked in automatically for that one. Managed to find a few more with some manual tuning, slightly limited however due to my location.
MP3 discs do indeed play the tag details, very handy in fact when you consider how many tunes you can squeeze onto CD's in this format.
All in all, loving my new radio, listen to it more often now that the quality is vastly improved. Only slightly bigger than my old one so the case is reasonable to carry. Equaliser settings give good thump to the driving anthems (again, possibly dependent on how good your car speakers are). A shout to another reviewer though....when you install it take the guys advice....stick the aerial to the windscreen with blue tack first to ensure you get a reception from DAB and you know where the wiring is going, it will be a nightmare removing it as once its stuck it certainly seems stuck for good. This will be a pickle as its definitely coming with me when i trade the car!
At £140 though..........need i say more?!
